Hi-tech Chemical

Hi-tech Chemical is the group’s largest business, its principal activity is oil refining and the production and marketing of petrochemical products. These include light fuel oils, gasoline, diesel in addition to a range of minor derivatives such as petroleum coke and liquefied gas. Most industrial sectors including manufacturing, transport and agriculture use some form of petroleum based fuel, and marketing is focused in the company’s home province of Shandong and neighbouring Jiangsu Province.

Hi-tech Ruilin

In April 2009, HaiKe announced that it had taken a 49% stake, through a wholly owned subsidiary, in Dongying Hi-Tech Ruilin Chemical Co., Ltd., a new refinery joint venture. The remaining 51% is held between two well established local joint venture partners, Xindu Group Company Ltd., an investment company focused on the oil and gas sector, and Jindayuan Real Estate Company Ltd., an oil and gas infrastructure developer.

Dongying Hi-Tech Ruilin Chemical Co., Ltd (Click on map to enlarge)

Hi-tech Ruilin is about 80 kilometers north of Dongying, at the new Dongying Port. The port facilities will enable feedstock to be imported, and products to be exported, more easily. HaiKe's principal goal from the joint venture is to increase the production and sale of its petrochemical products. The installation and water trial operations of the Ruilin refinery have been completed and the first trial production is scheduled to take place in the first quarter of 2010.

Hi-tech Spring

Hi-tech Spring is focused on the production and sale of a number of speciality chemicals. It is a leading producer of dimethyl carbonate (DMC) in China and is also capable of producing pharmacy grade propylene glycol. DMC is widely used in medical applications, agricultural pesticides and the manufacture of synthetic materials. The group’s production of DMC is sold in Guangdong and Jiangsu Provinces and exported to key markets in Europe. Propylene glycol is used in the medical industry as well as the food industry for flavour and fragrances. This production is largely for Chinese industrial consumption. Since the beginning of 2006, Spring has also been manufacturing significant quantities of isopropyl alcohol for the food, medical and electronics sectors. Marketing is focused on customers in Northern China.

Hi-tech Shengli

Hi-tech Shengli is focused on the production of base chemicals (alkaline substances with a high pH). The company’s main products include sodium hydroxide based products such as caustic soda and a range of chlorine based chemical products. The company also has its own salt field covering nearly 1,000 acres which has the capacity to produce over 50,000 tonnes per annum of crude salt, used in the production process.

Tiandong Biochemical

Tiandong Biochemical was founded in 1992 and acquired by Hi-tech Chemicals in February 2005. The business is focused on speciality biochemicals and its main products are heparin sodium and low-molecular mass heparins such as enoxaparin sodium and dalteparin sodium. Heparins are predominantly used in the pharmaceutical industry as injectable anticoagulants, used to prevent the formation of blood clots.
